Aptos Grant DAO is a long-term funding program that supports early-stage projects in the Aptos ecosystem. On March 12th, the program completed its second round of funding. Launched by DoraHacks and Supported Aptos, the program aims to provide ongoing financial assistance to high-quality projects by early-stage startups or developers, driving growth and development in the ecosystem.
The first round of funding for Aptos Grant DAO was launched on November 7th, 2022, and while the second round has already been completed in this March, the program is still currently open for project submissions. In this article, we will review in detail the funding situation of the Aptos Grant DAO Round 1 & 2 and introduce early-stage projects that are worth paying attention to.
Review of Aptos Grant DAO Rounds 1 & 2
In Aptos Grant DAO, each funding round consists of BUIDLer grants and a quadratic funding pool.
The BUIDLer grants contain 4,000 APT, which are allocated based on the evaluation results of the judging panel. The evaluation criteria mainly focus on the project's alignment with Aptos, level of Public Goods, business model, innovation, technicality, and cutting-edge blockchain/cryptography theories.
The community quadratic pool also contains 4,000 APT, which are allocated according to DoraHacks’ Quadratic funding algorithm. The amount of funding that a project can receive is positively correlated with the number of votes it receives. The more popular a project is, the higher the amount of funding it will be allocated.
In addition, funds contributed through community voting will also be added to the total prize pool, without any upper or lower limits.
Based on this, the prize pool of Aptos Grant DAO in the first two rounds of funding is as follows:

The program mainly supports projects in NFT/Gaming, DeFi, infrastructure protocols or tools, Move Native, and community/DAO, among others. In Round 1, 18 grantees were selected from 139 applicants, and went into a quadratic voting round, receiving 14,208.9 APT in grant funding. In Round 2, 235 projects submitted applications, and 25 projects were selected, with eight already selected from the first round and received a second grant.
The purpose of the Aptos Grant DAO funding program is to provide support for early-stage projects in the ecosystem to maintain ongoing development and operation. The future could be uncertain for an early-stage project in the blockchain industry so they need early investment to survive. Therefore, Aptos Grant DAO is born and committed to offer funds for the development of promising early-stage projects. At the same time, for investors, early-stage projects also mean high risks and high returns, especially for alpha players who are more inclined to find potential gems, so Aptos Grant DAO is also a great place for them to find a target.
